North Kitsap car show to benefit Relay for Life

The 2nd Annual North Kitsap Car and Motorcycle Show, benefiting the North Kitsap Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 at the Kingston Lumber Distribution Yard at 26855 Highway 104 in Kingston.

Cost is $10 to pre-register vehicles and $15 on the day of the show. There is no charge for the public to attend though donations will be accepted.

Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third places for both cars and motorcycles, chosen by the public. Judges will also award 12 plaques to the best of the show.

Another benefit for the Kingston Lumber Relay for Life Team includes a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 13 at the Kingston Lumber parking lot in downtown Kingston. Donations are needed and can be picked up or dropped off at a storage unit in Kingston. Call the number below for details.

The Kingston Lumber team has raised about $10,000 from the events in the last two years and hope to raise at least $12,000 this year. The North Kitsap Relay for Life raised over $130,000 combined in 2007 for the American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life of North Kitsap, with the theme of “There’s No Place Like HOPE,” takes place noon, Saturday, July 19 through noon, Sunday, July 20 at Kingston Middle School, 9000 NE West Kingston Road.

There will be a meeting for participating teams from 7-8 p.m. June 3 at Poulsbo Middle School Library. About 20 teams have signed up so far but more are needed.

Each year, across the nation, the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life events bring together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer and raise funds.
