Stennis scholarships announced

The John C. Stennis Center for Public Service recently announced a call for applicants for the 2008 USS STENNIS Family Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded to children of current and former USS Stennis crewmembers and spouses of current crewmembers with the aircraft carrier. The awards are given on an annual basis to individuals planning to pursue careers in public service. Applications are located on the Center’s website, www.stennis.gov/familyscholarshippage.htm, or the USS STENNIS Web site, www.cvn74.navy.mil/familyServices.html, and are due by May 31. Last year five USS STENNIS Family Scholarships were awarded ranging from $500 to $4,000. Bremerton’s Heather Nelson was one of those recipients.
