BHS administrators, staff speak out for ‘Dare Not To Swear!’

• I am most impressed that our school led campaign is now an embedded culture at BHS. I am excited and pleased that it is beginning at the elementary and middle levels so the expectations will be in place when they transition to BHS in the years to come.

• The “Dare Not To Swear Program” is an outstanding and highly successful program not only at Bremerton High School, but throughout the Bremerton School District and community. Simply said, “To Dare Not to Swear” is making a commitment that each and every student, school and individual across the state and entire country should make and promote because it is meaningful (to all ages) and promotes a level of respect towards each other that everyone, children to adulthood, should live by and model at all times. Lastly, it is a program that promotes positive awareness that can/will truly make a difference towards maintaining the healthy & behaviorally safe environment in which our students, staff, parent-guardians and/or community members/leaders join to successfully learn, work in, and or visit each day.

• “I am glad that the “Dare Not to Swear” campaign has become such a natural part of our culture here at BHS. It is surprising that it has only been a year since we implemented the program — it seems longer because both staff and students have so readily embraced the idea. The term “Dare Not to Swear” slides so easily off the tongue when someone slips with a curse word here or there that it has become an automatic response by all. The expectation is simply that swearing is not an acceptable way to represent our Knight Pride.”
