County offices, Courthouse closing at 3 p.m.

PORT ORCHARD — Traffic is cautiously inching along on city streets in Port Orchard Monday morning after a night and early morning of snow. About 4 to 5 inches accumulated on roadways throughout South Kitsap.

Road closure

Old Clifton Road is closed from the entrance to the Kitsap County Juvenile Facility at 1338 SW Old Clifton Rd., down to the SR16 interchange, due to downed trees. The city of Port Orchard Public Works reports that there is no estimated time when the road will reopen.

In addition, the city says the on-ramp to SR16 eastbound (toward Tacoma) has been closed.

Early this morning, South Kitsap School District canceled classes for the day. All after-hours activities also have been canceled.

Kitsap County offices closing at 3 p.m.

The Kitsap County courthouse and all county offices operated on a two-hour delay and opened at 10 a.m. Offices will close early at 3 p.m. All evening activities, including the regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting, are canceled. Check the web site (http://www.kitsapgov.com) or call the Inclement Weather Line (360-337-5775) after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning for any changes.
