When you visit our library, please say hello to our new Youth Services librarian, Whitney Chamberlin.
Originally from Helena, Mont., Whitney said that since the age of 5 she wanted to be a librarian. She feels one of her most important roles is to encourage children to become lifelong library lovers. To that end, we will begin offering more programs for youth as soon as possible. We hope you will join us in one of our programs this month.
– Pajama Storytime resumes on Mondays at 7 p.m. Come hear a bedtime story (or two!), and children can feel free to wear their favorite pajamas.
– Kingston Book Group meets March 7, at 10:30 a.m. to talk about “The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet” by David Stephen Mitchell.
– Kingston Friends of the Library host a book sale March 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kingston Community Center. Open to Friends of the Library members at 9 a.m.
– Book Talk for Lovers of Mysteries and New Titles: March 13, 2-3 p.m. Kitsap Regional Library book selectors host this adult winter reading event to clue you in on what is new and mysterious on our shelves.
– Kingston Classics Book Group: March 19, 6:30 p.m., to discuss “Death Comes for the Archbishop” by Willa Cather. In 1851, Bishop Latour and his friend Father Valliant are dispatched to New Mexico to reawaken its slumbering Catholicism. Over nearly 40 years, they leave converts and enemies, crosses, and occasionally ecstasy in their wake. But it takes a death for them to make their mark on the landscape forever.
– Pokemon Club meets March 28, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Meet others who share your passion for Pokemon. Feel free to bring your favorites and check out the Pokemon materials available at your library. Especially for children and tweens.
– Kingston Writers Group invites you to join in a friendly supportive atmosphere to encourage writing poetry, nonfiction, or fiction. Meetings are on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, 6:30 p.m., in the Indianola Room of the Kingston Community Center. Beginners are welcome.
LITTLE BOSTON LIBRARY EVENTS
– Adult Winter Reading Book Talk: March 5, 2-3 p.m. Kitsap Regional Library book selectors will be here to talk about what is new and exciting on our shelves. If you love books, this is the place to get great information on the latest titles.
– Little Boston Book Group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon. On March 7, they will discuss “Remarkable Creatures” by Tracy Chevalier.
– Digital Downloads Class will be held March 24, 10-11:30 a.m. Learn to download library audiobooks, e-books and music to your computer, e-reader or audio device. Class size is limited. Please register at the Little Boston Library or call (360) 297-2670.
– (non)Hunger Games will be held March 29, 3:30–4:50 p.m. In honor of “The Hunger Games,” come play video games at the library! And don’t worry; there will be pizza so you won’t actually be hungry. There will also be duct tape for crafting. May the odds be ever in your favor. For Tweens.
– Preschool Storytimes led by Whitney on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. For ages 3-6 years and their caregivers.
– Adult Crafternoon welcomes everyone on Wednesdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Bring your handwork projects and see our newest craft books.
