The library levy passed with — as of this writing — nearly 65 percent of the vote. Thank you very much for your support. Although more funding will begin at the end of April, there will be some exciting changes even before then. Stay tuned, and if you have any questions, please come visit or call me.

Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2. Browse and shop for books and more at the Kingston Friends of the Library Holiday Day Book Sale.

Kingston Book Group: 10-11 a.m. Dec. 6. “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Stedman.

Kingston Writers Group: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 12. Enjoy a supportive atmosphere to encourage writing.

Lit Out Loud: 1:30 -2:30 p.m. Dec 14. Add some literature to your day by listening to stories, non-fiction selections, or poetry read aloud.

Classics Book Group: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 18. “Finn Family Moomintroll” by Tove Jansson.

Family STEM: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Dec 20. Families can explore a different Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) topic each month with hands-on activities.

Opera Preview — ‘Cosí Fan Tutte’: 1-3:30 p.m. Dec. 30. Join opera aficionado Norm Hollingshead as he previews Mozart’s quirky comedy of (bad) manners. Hijinks ensue when two gentlemen don disguises to win a bet. Funding provided in part by anonymous donors.

Little Boston branch

Book Group: 1-2 p.m. Dec. 6. “Please Look After Mom” by Kyung-Sook Shin.

Crafternoon: 2:30-3:30 pm. Dec. 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Mini Hand warmers: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Create your own pair of pocket-sized hand warmers while learning some basic hand sewing techniques like the blanket stitch — just in time for cooler weather!

Family STEM: 1-2:30 p.m. Dec. 22. Bring the family to explore a different STEM topic each month.
