POULSBO — The North Kitsap Vikings stand alone at the top of the Olympic League basketball standings and are three games from winning the league title.

The Vikings (8-1, 13-4) lead the league heading into a home game against the Port Angeles Roughriders Jan. 27.

The Vikings, Olympic Trojans (7-2, 11-5) and Sequim Wolves (6-3, 10-6) are close to all being guaranteed a postseason berth. The Wolves are closer to finishing first in the league, than missing postseason.

Based on current standings, if the Vikings finish first in the league, they would play Fife (5-5, 10-6) in the first round of the District playoffs. A second-place finish would mean a first-round game against Clover Park (6-4, 11-5).

While the Vikings, Trojans and Wolves fight for the top of the league; the other four teams are in a close battle for fourth and fifth.

The Bremerton Knights (3-5, 6-8), North Mason Bulldogs (2-6, 7-9), Port Angeles Roughriders (2-6, 5-11) and Kingston Buccaneers (2-7, 6-10) could all make postseason.

The top five teams from the Olympic League advance to the 2A District Playoffs. The playoffs are held Feb. 12-21.
