KHS soccer wins, NK tennis defeats KHS, NK girls lacrosse wins

Bucs edge Port Townsend, 3-2

The Kingston High School boys soccer team snagged its first win of the season at Shane Park in Port Townsend Thursday, beating the Redskins 3-2. The Bucs scored early on a shot by Diego Portillo (Juan Diego Chehade), before falling behind, 2-1. Kingston rallied for a comeback in the second half, on a free kick by Matt Hust and a Bobby Catania goal (Chance Pruiett).

“It was a great growing experience, especially for the young players,” said KHS soccer coach Craig Smith.

North defeats Kingston in tennis

The North Kitsap tennis team defeated Kingston 5-2 Thursday at Kingston.

Singles results: Theresa Tucci (KHS) def. Katja Christianson 6-0, 6-2; McKenna Elves (NK) def. Austen Turner 6-3, 6-0; Kelsey Grunigen (NK) def. Ericka Daniels 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles results: Krista Vestman and Darlene Dang (NK) def. Felicia Drone and Andrea Fladgard 6-1, 6-2; Maddi Miller and Olivia Guevara (KHS) def. Rose Bissonnette and Meghan O’Hara; Terry McGinty and Megan Stickney (NK) def. Corinne Sudduth and Stephanie Fyfe 7-6, 4-6, 6-3; Sarah Farmar and Elya Lee (NK) def. Leigh Anne Bundang and Graciela Molina 6-2, 6-1.

NK girls lacrosse earn first win

The North Kitsap girl lacrosse team earned their first victory of the 2009 season with a 17-3 win over Lake Sammamish Thursday in Poulsbo. North’s Mallory Glebe led with five goals, followed closely by teammates Victoria Thomas and Kendra Gottschalk, who each had three. Goalie Zandi Lougheed recorded three saves in the win.
