All-Narrows League football selections

All-Narrows League football selections

The 2009 All-Narrows League Football Team was released Tuesday, and six Central Kitsap players received honorable mention or better.

Senior wide receiver Christian Wesley and senior offensive lineman Conner Cheser were named to the First Team, while senior offensive lineman Spencer Williams was named to the Second Team. Quarterback Brett McDonald, running back Devon Lewis and wide receiver Preston Nelson received honorable mention.

South Kitsap’s Leon La Deaux, a wide receiver and defensive back, was named Most Valuable Player.

All-Olympic League football selections

Olympic senior running back Larry Dixon, the West Sound career rushing leader, was named the 2009 Olympic League Most Valuable Player. Dixon rushed for 1,748 yards and 26 touchdowns and scored 29 times on the season.

Teammate Keinan Paulino, a senior linebacker, was a first-teamer on defense. Senior wide receiver/defensive back Blake Johnson earned Second Team status both offensively and defensively. Defensive linemen Dillon Matautia and Ardie Fesuluai were second-teamers. Dylan Moran split Punter of the Year with Dylan Swanstrom of Timberline.

Olympic also earned a share of the team sportsmanship award with North Kitsap.

OHS winter basketball clinic

The Olympic High School boys basketball team is sponsoring a youth basketball skills clinic Dec. 12 at OHS.

The first session, open to players in kindergarten through fourth grade, is from noon to 2 p.m. The second session, open to players in fifth through eighth grade, is from 2 to 4 p.m.

Walk-ups may be available if the sessions are not full. Skills to be covered include injury prevention, ball handling, shooting, passing and the fundamentals of defense. Registration is $30, which includes a T-shirt. Registration forms are available via e-mail request and online at http://olhs.cksd.wednet.edu.
