The North Kitsap girls swim team has been given the green light to start practice on Aug. 25 in anticipation of funding for the pool through Dec. 31. Practice time will be from 1:15 - 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 29 with regular practice times starting the Tuesday after Labor Day. The Kingston High School girls are eagerly awaiting the hiring of a head and assistant coach. Any interested applicants should contact the North Kitsap School District Human Resources department, or visit nkschools.org and apply immediately. The positions are open until filled.

The North Kitsap Athletic Boosters is sponsoring a car wash in support of the NKHS girls swim team on Friday at the Texaco on the corner of Little Valley and Forest Rock Lane NE in Poulsbo (near Central Market).

NK Explosion 93 dominates at Snohomish Bigfoot Tournament

In the BU-15 gold division at the Snohomish Bigfoot Tournament, Aug. 14-17, the NK Explosion 93 won it all.

In game one the Explosion shutout Pacific Premier Red, 8-0. In game two the Explosion defeated South Hill Revolution Black, 2-1. In game three the Explosion claimed victory over ISC Arsenal, 2-1.

In the semi-final match the Explosion faced the Arsenal again but stomped them by an even wider margin, 5-1. In the finals the Explosion defeated Maple Valley Premier Rapids 93, 1-0.

The Explosion won five of its six summer tournaments, and now it’s on to league play in September.
