North Kitsap Explosion soccer team wins big

Last weekend the North Kitsap Soccer Club Explosion 93 boys team attended the Skagit Diadora Firecracker Invitational and won it all. The boys scored 19 goals in four games and only let one by. The Firecracker invitational is the third tournament NK Explosion has won in a row. The team has a 14-0 record.

Firecracker Invitational games: game 1, Explosion 93 defeated the Newport Red Hawks, 2-0; game 2, the Explosion shutout Alaska’s JD Thunder, 8-0; game 3, the Explosion beat Snohomish United Red, 3-0; and game four the finals Explosion claimed victory over Black Hills FC Premier, 6-1.

Explosion 93 competes at the US Club National Tournament in Boise, Idaho July 5-9.

Camp runs June 30-July 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls entering grades five through eight and from 2-6 p.m. for high school. Cost is $90. The camp will feature coach Kevin Strozier and guest coach Joyce Walker from the movie “The Heart of the Game” and former Garfield coach. Kingston Buccaneers football camp

The Kingston High School football staff will conduct two non-contact football camps designed to introduce and teach the fundamentals of football and the buccaneer style of play. Camps run July 28-31 from 1-3 p.m. for third through eighth-graders and from 6-8:30 p.m. for ninth through 12th-graders. Cost is $80 and each registered camper receives a Kingston football T-shirt. North Kitsap PeeWee Football

Football season starts Aug. 4 for boys and girls ages 5 through 14. Registration fee is $120, flag-football registration is $70. Families with more than one child receive a $10 per child discount. Conditioning week kicks off Aug. 4-8 from 5-7 p.m. Practice begins Aug. 11 and will be held four nights a week at Hamilton Field. Season runs August through November.
