Bucs soccer loses to Klahowya, 3-0

On Tuesday the Bucs traveled to the home of the Olympic League 2A No. 2 school, the Klahowya Eagles and lost 3-0.

“They were better tactically and very patient. It was intellect over athleticism,” head coach Craig Smith wrote in an e-mail. “My hats off to them.”

Today the Bucs play the Vikings at the North Kitsap Stadium, JV starts at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.

Viking volleyball beats Knights

On Tuesday the Vikes hosted Bremerton and won in three: 25-16, 25-12, 25-12.

Stats: Sarah Baugh, 13 kills, 15 assists, five aces and five digs; Taylor Ottomano, nine kills; Jordan Denning, 10 assists; Alanna Shores, seven digs; Katie Smeland, five digs; and Haley Fidler 10/10 serving with two aces.

On Thursday the Vikings traveled to Olympic for the Olympic League 3A No. 1, No. 2 tiebreaker and lost in five, 25-17 (Oly), 25-19 (Oly), 25-19 (NK) 25-10 (NK), 15-9 (Oly).

Head coach Tim French wrote in an e-mail the match was a battle between two evenly matched schools. The Vikes, he wrote, felt some of the big game pressures, and thought about too much in the first two games. In sets three and four the Vikes got back on their game, playing without hesitation and trusting their instincts.

Stats: Baugh, eight kills, 12 assists, 10 digs and 10/10 serving; Ottomano, 10 kills and two blocks; Denning, nine assists; Claire Torstenbo, four blocks; and Bohl, 10 digs.

As the No. 2 seed the Vikings will host the No. 3 seed from the Western Cascades League on Wednesday Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. Winner goes to districts and loser is out.

Kingston Boosters hosting tourney

November 9 through 10 will mark the Kingston High School Athletic Booster Club’s second annual Veterans Day girls basketball tournament, where veterans get free admission. Every participant gets a T-shirt. Divisions for sixth, seventh and eighth grade, JV and varsity. Medals for first, second and third place. A shooting clinic will be held on Saturday afternoon. Vikings gymnastic meeting

For all parents of Viking ninth through 12th-grade girls interested in gymnastics, an informational parent meeting will be held Tuesday Nov. 4 in the PE classroom at North Kitsap High School at 7:30 p.m. First day of practice will be Nov. 10 at Zero Gravity Athletics from 3-5 p.m. Any questions can be emailed to Kris Goodfellow at kgoodfellow@nkschools.org
