North Kitsap rec

team reigns in win

The North Kitsap BU-19 Yellow Reign recreational soccer team took first place in Division 4 regular season play with a 3-0 victory over the SK5 Sharks Nov. 10 at Retsil Field in Port Orchard.

Evan Olson scored a pair of goals and Thomas O’Brien found the back of the net once. Jeremy Dyer and Cameron Hattrick completed the shutout from the goal box for the Yellow Reign.

The Yellow Reign finished with a 7-1-2 record and tied the SK2 Thunder with 23 points after 10 matches to earn first place honors. The Reign scored 36 goals and allowed 22 during the fall season.

“This team has gotten a little better each year for four years,” said co-coach John Olson. “We hoped eventually to win it all, and this was the year.”

Olson and co-coach Andy Simonson now lead the Yellow Reign into President’s Cup play with a goal of making the Cup final round in Lake Stevens in three weeks.

Members include Eric Beisley, Kalen Edwards, James Guanavinaka, Sam Koken, Adam Neer, Chris Novotney, Chris Ottersen, Joey Patton, Kaleb Murray, Stephan Simonson, Zack Singh, Kyle Pease, Ross Bryan, John Windust, Olson, O’Brien, Dyer and Hattrick.

NKHS readying for

Meet the Vikings Night

North Kitsap High School will host its winter sports Meet the Vikings Night in the NKHS gymnasium starting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20. Athletes and parents are invited to attend to kick off the 2007-08 athletic season for the Vikings.

KHS readying for

Meet the Bucs Night

Kingston High School will host its winter sports Meet the Bucs Night in the KHS Gym, starting at 7 p.m. Nov. 19. Coaches and participants in all winter sports programs, including boys basketball, boys swimming, cheer, girls basketball, gymnastics and wrestling, will be introduced. Following introductions of the teams, each coach will conduct a preseason parent meeting in separate classrooms.
