Soccer benefit Sports notice

The first Natey’s “Incredible” Jamboree takes place today at Gordon Field. This soccer jamboree is intended to bring families together for a day of soccer fun while heightening the community’s awareness of a childhood cancer, neuroblastoma, an aggressive, often fatal form of pediatric cancer. The McKean family was blessed with the birth of Nathan Harrison on Oct. 24, 2001. Nathan lost his battle with neuroblastoma on June 16, 2007. One of Nate’s favorite things to do was to watch his sisters play soccer while talking of the day he “would be bigger” and could join them. For Nate and many other children, that day would never come. The McKean family has partnered with Westsound FC to host the first Natey’s “Incredible” Jamboree. All proceeds from the jamboree will go to neuroblastoma programs like Lunch For Life (www.lunchforlife.org), Alex’s Lemonade Stand (www.alexslemonade.org) and the Childhood Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (www.cncf-childcancer.org). Registration is accepted on site for boys and girls teams from U11 to U13. There will be a three-game guarantee. The entry fee is $195. For details and registration, visit Westsound FC at www.westsoundfc.com.
