Troy Kelly, who graduated from Central Kitsap in 1998 before attending the University of Washington, qualified for the PGA Tour Monday thanks to 3-under-par 69 in the final round of PGA Tour Qualifying School or “Q-School” in La Quinta, Calif. Kelly, who tied for 11th overall with a 20-under 412, is one of 28 players to qualify for the PGA Tour, golf’s most prestigious and lucrative series of tournaments, via Q-School. The PGA Tour begins Jan. 5 with the $5.6 million-purse Mercedes-Benz Championship in Hawaii.

• Hamre, SPU win title

Central Kitsap grad Brandi Hamre, who graduated in June, has already captured an NCAA Division II championship. Currently a freshman on the Seattle Pacific University girls soccer team, Hamre helped SPU to a 1-0 overtime victory against previously unbeaten West Florida to capture the D-II title.

• Wrestling Duals

The highly anticipated Olympic Duals are today at the Kitsap Fairgrounds Pavilion. Sixteen teams are turning out including Central Kitsap, Olympic and Klahowya. Area teams Bremerton and North Kitsap also will compete, joining Yelm, Gonzaga Prep, Stanwood, Wenatchee, Olympia, Hudson’s Bay, A.C. Davis, Auburn-Riverside, Bethel, Peninsula and Heritage. Matches begin at 9:15 a.m., with the championship round slated for 3:45 p.m. The Olympic High School softball team is putting on a pancake breakfast, from 7 to 11 a.m. Cost is $5, and proceeds benefit the Olympic Booster Club, softball and wrestling teams.

• Basketball Skills Clinic

The Olympic High School Basketball Booster Club is sponsoring a youth basketball skills clinic for children in grades kindergarten through eighth.

The clinic is Saturday, Dec. 20 at the OHS gymnasium. The session for kindergarten through fourth-graders is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the session for fifth- though eighth-graders is 2 to 4 p.m. The clinic will focus on injury prevention, ball handling, shooting, passing and the fundamentals of defense.
