Saints win with Galloways

It didn’t take long for the West Sound Saints to earn new coach Bob Galloway a big ‘W.’

Galloway, who replaced former coach John Corey due to health reasons, had already been serving as the team’s offensive coordinator and running backs coach. The latter came as no surprise as Galloway’s son Anthony, a graduate of South Kitsap High School, is one of the Saints’ primary weapons.

So too it was fitting that Anthony was the key to his dad’s first win.

Anthony Galloway led a Saints rushing attack that totaled 350 yards on the ground by scoring the final touchdown in a 20-14 win against the Valley (Auburn) Mustangs (0-4) on Aug. 9.

The win improves the Saints to 2-3 on the year coming off a bye last weekend.

That keeps them in a battle with the Kitsap County Bears, as the Bears fell to the undefeated British Columbia Spartans 37-7 last weekend.

The Bears remain one point ahead of the Saints in the standings at 2-4 with 12 points. The Saints have 11 points. Teams get four points for a win and one for a loss. The Spartans increased their lead in the NAFL Northwest Region’s Olympic Division with a 5-0 mark.

The Bears are on a bye week this weekend while the Saints host the Spartans at 6 p.m. tonight at Silverdale Stadium.
