EAST BREMERTON — South Kitsap finally cracked the code on Olympic High’s pitching staff in the top of the sixth inning, scoring four times en route to a 5-3 victory on March 19.
Through five innings, Olympic had led 3-1 and starting pitcher Dani Snyder had mostly kept the Wolves offense in check.
But the tide turned in the sixth, beginning with a leadoff home run by Statia Cermak, an absolute rocket over the left-center field fence. Alexis Gojkovich’s one-out double put her into scoring position for Kaitlynn Johnston, who ripped a single to tie the game at three. Aspen Millet reached on an error, allowing Johnston to score, and then came home on a double steal.
Millet was at third base and the Trojans attempted to fake the throw down to second by throwing hard to the pitcher, but the return throw was not in time.
Olympic struck for a run in the first inning when Kiki Mitchell came in to score on an error after drawing a leadoff walk. Brittany Stranger picked up an RBI in the fourth, laying down a sacrifice bunt to bring in Kaytelin Graf.

Henry Golden’s second goal of the game broke a 1-1 deadlock late in the second half for Kingston (3-1). William Stewart gave the Eagles a lead in the 46th minute, but Golden tied the game about ten minutes later, setting the table for the thrilling finish. With overtime a near certainty, Golden took a feed from Ian Lanfear and deposited it into the back of the net for the win.
