Kingston High School junior Peyton Reece, 17, winner of the state wrestling championship (125) on Feb. 21, chatted with the Herald about subjects ranging from Krispy Kremes to special post-title treatment at home (not!).

Favorite wrestling move: The slide-by. “I’ve kind of moved away from it, but it’s always been my favorite move,” she said.

Post-championship food: Original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts. She ate 22 — that’s not a typo — over the course of four days after winning the state title.

Training diet: No Krispy Kremes when she’s training; she likes chicken and pasta. “When you’re training, you don’t get to eat big portions. Chicken and pasta are the most fulfilling,” she said.

What’s on her iPod?: She warms to up her brother’s “crazy stuff.” “It’s on shuffle,” she said.

Pre-season plans: In the run up to the 2015-16 season, she’ll train with a coach then compete at meets in Texas, Reno, Las Vegas, and Fargo. She won the Reno Worlds in 2014 before the start of her undefeated prep season.

Her grade point average: It’s 3.1 right now. She’s as devoted to her studies as she is to sport. “My grades are my priority,” she said.

After-graduation plans: She wants to wrestle on the college level.

Has reality sunk in?: “It’s still kind of crazy to think about,” she said. “I know I won it, but it still hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s kind of hard to believe.”

Special treatment at home: Not. “My parents are proud of me, but I still have stuff I have to do.”
