Port Orchard FC introduced Max Sampson as its new head coach Dec. 1, replacing Patrick Leonard, who resigned after coaching the team during its first three seasons, including winning two championships.
Last season, POFC won the Division 1 Cascadia Premier League Championship against Nido Aguila 2-1, and won the Division 2 title in its inaugural season in 2023.
“I’m really happy for Max, and I’m happy for POFC to have found their new leader,” Leonard said in a news release.
Sampson is currently the head coach at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia and was previously head coach at Lane Community College in Oregon. He has been named the NWAC (Northwest Athletic Conference) Regional Coach of the Year twice and is also the owner and agent of Cascade Sports Recruiting, a company that provides college recruiting advice and player placement assistance.
“I am very excited to lead the Tall Firs and work with such a unique football brand and dedicated organization,” Sampson said in the release. “The leadership here is community-centered and players are high quality. I can’t wait to get started and build a team the fans will love to follow.”
