NK, Kingston seniors sign college letters of intent

Over the last few weeks, North Kitsap and Kingston senior athletes have signed letters of intent to continue playing sports in college.

North Kitsap’s Sophia Baugh will play volleyball at Point Loma Nazarene University. She piled up 304 digs, 18 blocks, 167 kills and 2,281 assists as a senior for the Vikings.

Mackenzie Phillips will continue to play softball at Oregon Tech University. The Viking utility player earned three All-Olympic League selections and was an All-Tournament team selection at the 2022 Triple Crown National Championships. Oregon Tech’s coach Greg Stewart said, “Mackenzie is an outstanding signee for our program in the 2023 class… She is the caliber of player that could make an immediate impact in an Owl uniform next season.”

Caleb Callahan will continue to play football at the US Merchant Marine Academy. Callahan played wide receiver for the Vikings last season during their state playoff run. He had 24 receptions for 294 yards and three touchdowns.

Jordan Reece will continue to play football at Linfield University in McMinnville, OR. Reece signed recently and finished the season with nine receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. In addition, he had 5.5 sacks and 89 tackles last season.

Kingston had three players sign to play in college.

Dakota Standley signed to play basketball at Olympic College. Standley led the Buccaneers as a first-team All-Olympic League. He scored over 20 points in multiple games.

Sophia Call and Grace Mosco will head to Castleton University to play volleyball together. It’s a Division III college in Vermont. Call earned first-team All-Olympic League and was a four-time scholar-athlete. Mosco also made first-team this season as one of the top outside hitters in the league.
