NK doubles team wins league; two advance to districts| Tennis

Two North Kitsap doubles teams fought through adversity, and wet weather, to win in the Olympic League Tennis Championships on Oct. 24.

POULSBO — Two North Kitsap doubles teams fought through adversity, and wet weather, to win in the Olympic League Tennis Championships on Oct. 24.

Nick Butler and Josh Benson won the 2A doubles tournament and earned the No. 1 seed into the district tournament.

North Kitsap’s Nate McCown and Joe Creason earn the No. 3 seed to districts after finishing third in the league tournament.

Kingston’s Andrew Shaw and Brett Spencer are alternates for doubles play, and will play if a qualifying team does not play at districts.

As a team, the Vikings finished the regular season 10-2 in conference play and 11-2 overall. The team tied with Sequim.

NEXT: District tournament, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, Bremerton Tennis and Athletic Club.
