POULSBO — Earlier in the season, Vikings head volleyball coach Tim French said he didn’t like to make predictions. But he definitely can’t argue with the results this fall.

The Vikings varsity team finished the regular season undefeated Oct. 28. The Vikings’ fall programs will end the season with league titles in nearly all sports.

The volleyball team finished 14-0 overall, 8-0 in conference play. A 3-0 win over the Kingston Buccaneers ended the season for both teams and guaranteed the title.

The Vikings travel to Sequim High School Nov. 2 for the Olympic League Volleyball Tournament, which starts at 2 p.m.

Vikes soccer bests Buccaneers

It may have been the Kingston Buccaneers who took the first shots on goal the evening of Oct. 28, but it was the North Kitsap Vikings who took the Olympic League title.

The Vikings defeated the Bucs 3-0 at North Kitsap Stadium, winning the league title and remaining undefeated.

Being undefeated is always what you shoot for, but it’s never certain, Vikings head coach Chris May said about a week before the win.

“We try to win every game, but I don’t know if we thought we’d do that,” he said of the undefeated season.

The Vikings finished 16-0, in front of the second- place Klahowya Eagles (13-3).

The loss to the Vikings bumped the Bucs (12-4) down to third.

The top five teams in the league are preparing to play in the Olympic League Tournament. The Bucs and Vikings play Nov. 2. The Bucs play the Eagles. The Vikings will either play the Olympic Trojans or Bremerton Knights.

Because of their top finish, the Vikings will host their first game of the tournament. The Bucs travel to Silverdale.

Though they finished at the top of the league, May said “nothing is locked up for District or State.” The league tournament will determine placement into the district tournament, which precedes State.

NK’s Ramsey wins XC championships

North Kitsap’s Kathleen Ramsey took home the Olympic League championship Oct. 24 during the league meet.

Ramsey, a senior at North Kitsap, finished the course in 18 minutes 48.14 seconds.

Kingston’s Annie Roberts finished second in 19:17.19.

The North Kitsap Vikings finished with a score of 43, behind Port Angeles, which finished with 38. The Kingston Buccaneers took third with 73.

North Kitsap’s Clara Lund finished in third in 19:36.92.

The Bucs and North Kitsap Vikings head to American Lake for the district championships, Nov. 2. The district championships begin at 11:35 a.m. Runners will compete for state qualifying times.

Boys tennis tops league standings

To accompany their individual accomplishments during the Olympic League Tennis Championships, the Vikings earned the team league title.

The Vikings finished the season 6-1, with an overall record of 9-2.

North’s Matt Cragg finished second in the singles bracket of the tournament after losing to Klahowya’s Jerry Landram in the finals. Matt Pearson took fourth after defeating Sequim’s Victor Lam.

The doubles team of Joe Creason and Andrew Leight took sixth, losing to Olympic’s Jacob Nemeth and Darren Towne.

Along with all the outright titles, the Vikings varsity football team is guaranteed at least a share of the league title.
