“We had a terrific season,” North Kitsap head boys swim coach Greg Braun said.

OULSBO — “We had a terrific season,” North Kitsap head boys swim coach Greg Braun said.

“[We broke] three school records and put five swims on the podium.”

North Kitsap boys placed in the top eight at state to give the team the highest boys-swim finish in school history.

North Kitsap took seventh place overall at state.

In the 200 medley relay, Viking boys set a new school record. Jeremiah Johnston, Nathan Ramey, and Matt Smith placed.

In the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, Jeremiah Johnston took 13th place.

Thor Breitbarth placed eighth in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

In the 500 freestyle, Nathan Ramey placed seventh. In the 200 freestyle relay, Brandon Anderson, Alex Chow, Matt Smith and Matt Wooldridge placed 13th.

In the 100 breaststroke, Nathan Ramey set a school record, coming in at third place.

In the 400 freestyle relay Thor Breitbarth, Jeremiah Johnston, Matt Wooldridge, and Nathan Ramey placed ninth. They set a school record and dropped two seconds off the record set in 2001.

Nathan Ramey, ninth place, also broke a 22-year-old record in the 100 breaststroke at the district finals. He lowered the time in state prelims and broke the record again, ultimately shaving four seconds off of the old record.

With the exception of Breitbarth, all of the state swimmers will be returning next season.

“I can’t wait to see what that brings,” Braun said.
