Brittany Miller saw her collegiate career reach its conclusion Sunday as Linfield lost 5-4 in eight innings against Texas-Tyler in the championship game of the NCAA Division III West Regionals.
Miller, a right-hander pitcher, finished her senior season with a 15-4 record. She went 2-2 at regionals — throwing complete games in all four contests — with both losses coming against four-ranked Texas-Tyler.
The 2005 South Kitsap High School graduate had an 8-2 record in 12 playoff appearances with a 1.74 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched to lead the Wildcats to their only national fastpitch championship in 2007.
“Brittany has a ton of natural ability,” Linfield coach Jackson Vaughan told the Independent in 2007. “She’s blessed to be able to do things with a softball that not many people can do. She certainly is our key to success and one of the better pitchers at this level in the country.”
Miller was the Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Year the last three seasons. She had a 71-14 record for the McMinnville, Ore. school.
Linfield finished with a 39-6 record this season.
