Kitsap schools dominate freestyle swim at districts

Kitsap County schools finished across the board at the 2A Westside Classic District Swim Tournament Nov. 5.

North Kitsap led schools in the county with a fourth-place finish with 113 points. Megan Whitsitt finished sixth in the 200- and 100-yard freestyles, third in the 200 free relay and fourth in the 400 free relay.

Nadia Barry finished 11th in the 200 free and ninth in the 500 freestyle. Caylie Slama finished fifth in the 200 free and was part of the relay teams too.

Bremerton finished eighth with 68 points. Gabbi Patti won the 50 free and 100-yard backstroke.

Klahowya sat in ninth with 66 points. Loren Swaney won the 200 free and was third in the 500 free while Caley Haydu finished fourth in the 50 free and second in the 100 free.

Olympic finished 13th with 31 points and Kingston rounded out the Olympic League with a 14th-place finish.

Jasmyn Coviello had the Trojans best finish with a fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Buc Lilia Manges shined with a third-place finish in the 100 free and a fifth-place finish in the 50 free.

The Olympic League teams will compete at King County Aquatic Center on Nov. 11-12 for a state title.
