Four teams advance to State | Prep sports

The Kingston Buccaneers and North Kitsap Vikings are heading to the first round of the 2A State football tournament. They won't be traveling far, though.

POULSBO — The Kingston Buccaneers and North Kitsap Vikings are heading to the first round of the 2A State football tournament. They won’t be traveling far, though.

Both varsity teams won their District playoff game to advance to the tournament and will host their opponents at North Kitsap Stadium. The Vikings (10-0) play the Hockinson Hawks (10-0) at 7 p.m., Nov. 15.

The Vikings defeated the Renton Indians 27-6 Nov. 8 at North Kitsap Stadium for the State tournament berth.

The Hawks won 24-21 over Black Hills Nov. 7 for their trip to State.

Meanwhile, the Kingston Buccaneers are slated to play the Burlington-Edison Tigers (7-3). The Bucs will the Tigers at 7 p.m., Nov. 14, at North Kitsap Stadium.

The Bucs (4-7) narrowly made State with a 20-19 overtime win on the road against the Franklin Pierce Cardinals (6-4) Nov. 7. The Cardinals were tied with River Ridge 6-1 in conference play in the 2A South Puget Sound League.

North Kitsap girls soccer hosts Hockinson Hawks Nov. 11

The Vikings (12-0-0, 15-3-1) face the Hawks (10-2-0, 14-4-1) in the first round of the 2A State tournament Nov. 11.

The Vikings host at North Kitsap Stadium. Game begins at 6 p.m. The Vikings earned the No. 2 seed to State after finishing second in the District playoffs Nov. 8.

The Olympic League champions won 5-0 over Lindbergh Nov. 6 at North Kitsap Stadium to advance to the championship playoff game against Liberty.

Liberty defeated the Vikings 2-1 in a shootout finish (3-1), Nov. 8.

If they survive the first round of the tournament, the Vikings play either Olympic or Squalicum Nov. 13, 14 or 15 in the quarterfinals.

North Kitsap volleyball continues their dominance through Districts

The North Kitsap Vikings remain unbeaten after going 4-0 in the District tournament for the championship.

The Vikings defeated Washington and Steilacoom 3-0, Nov. 7.

The North Kitsap team finished the semifinals 3-2 over Fife on Nov. 8. They won 3-0 over Liberty for the championship the same day. The Vikings have accumulated 20 wins this season.

Now, the Vikings prepare themselves for the State tournament Nov. 14-15. They play Lakewood at 9:45 a.m., Nov. 14, at Pierce College, 9401 Farwest Dr. SW, Lakewood.

Win or lose against Lakewood, the Vikings play a second match Nov. 14 against either Woodland or Easy Valley.
