The Klahowya Eagles made sure it was a memorable finish.

Coming off a tough loss to Kingston last week that loosened their grip on the 2A Olympic League crown, the Eagles responded, blasting North Mason 13-3 in five innings Thursday to lock up the top 2A spot while setting a new school record for wins by picking up their 11th.

Rusty Devitt, who returned to the hill in Tuesday’s 11-1 win against Port Townsend and impressed by hitting 88 mph and recording five strikeouts against six batters, continued his tear by batting 2-for-2 Thursday with a homer and two RBI, scoring four times.

Eric Eley, who improved to 4-3 on the year with the win, helped his own cause with a 2-for-3 effort that included a run and an RBI and Jordan Green scored three times on a 2-for-3 effort. Catcher Seth Green scored a run on a 2-for-2 day at the plate.

The win means Klahowya will receive a first-round bye in the 2A West Central District tournament, which kicks off Tuesday at Bremerton’s Legion Field.

The Eagles will play Friday at Legion against the winner of Sequim and Eatonville.
