Despite losses, NK heads to state

Kingston, Olympic volleyball both knocked out of playoffs

North Kitsap volleyball will be returning to state for the ninth- straight season after defeating Sequim Nov. 3 in three sets.

The Vikings were battled tested against the familiar foes, winning 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18.

The No. 2 seeded Vikings returned for the district semifinals Nov. 4 against Washington High, but the Patriots defeated the Vikings in three sets, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18.

North Kitsap then faced Enumclaw and fell 3-1, losing 21-25, 25-12, 9-25 and 16-25.

Kingston and Olympic also competed at districts. Both won their first matches in a sweep. The Trojans defeated Tyee while Kingston handled Evergreen.

However, because they finished lower in the league standings and were seeded low both teams needed to win two more games to head to state.

Kingston was swept by Sequim 3-0 while Sammamish defeated Olympic 3-1.
