With the postseason looming for both teams, Olympic and Central Kitsap battled to a 0-0 draw in non-league action at Silverdale Stadium Wednesday.

The Lady Cougars (7-3-4 overall, 4-2-3 league) were in the midst of a three-team race with Olympia and Stadium for fourth place in the Narrows League going into their season finale against Foss yesterday, from which results were unavailable at press time.

“Our team has made steady progress throughout the season,” Webb said. “Our team is solid defensively, but still needs to capitalize on our scoring opportunities.”

CK created more scoring opportunities than Oly Wednesday, outshooting the Lady Trojans 10-3, but failed to find the net. Darrien Dorr registered her 11th shutout of the season for the Lady Trojans (9-3-3, 7-1-2), who defeated Bremerton 2-0 Tuesday and conclude the regular season against Port Angeles Oct. 27.

“We need to give ourselves more goal-scoring opportunities,” said Oly coach Steve Haggerty, whose team has suffered from a recent bout of injuries, having only 12 players available against Bremerton. “We need to get healthy.”

Both Haggerty and Webb said they are pleased with their teams’ progress and are optimistic leading into their respective postseason tournaments. The Lady Trojans will host a sub-district game Nov. 3, while CK’s draw for the Narrows League Tournament had yet to be determined at press time.

“Our mindset is positive and we are poised to make a positive run into the postseason,” Webb said. “We are in control of our own destiny and realize that we need to continue to play tough defense and put the ball in the net in order to move on.”

“Solid contributions are being made by all of our players,” she added. “I’d like to single out our team captains — Hannah Anderson, Rebekah Daniel and Molly Edde — for providing great leadership and inspirational play, as well as Kirsten Anthony for her strong effort in every game.”
