The Central Kitsap Cross country team raced to first place finishes in both boys and girls action at a meet Wednesday. The boys finished with 21 points to edge Stadium (34), Mt. Tahoma (96) and Foss (97).

Junior Shane Moskowitz took first in the boys 5K with a time of 15 minutes, 28 seconds. Moskowitz’s time easily beat second-place finisher Zackery Weber, also of CK, who posted a 16:46 run. Freshman Michael Thorson earned fifth place, running a 16:56. Cougars John Mackovjak (17:14) and Mark Zylstra (17:16) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

The girls finished with 19 points to beat Stadium, the only other school to compete on the girls side. Shane’s sister, Shannon, won the 5K with a time of 18:35, while Cougar Tori Johansen (19:54) placed second. Gee Mi Jorde finished third on a 19:59 run to complete a clean first through third sweep for CK.

CK football lost a defensive struggle against Bellarmine Prep Oct. 3, 6-0. The loss dropped the Cougars’ overall record to 2-3, behind Olympia (5-0), Mt. Tahoma (4-1), Gig Harbor (4-1) and Foss (4-2) in the Narrows League. CK played Shelton on the road last night, but results from that game were unavailable at press time.
