Bucs play last game Thursday, Oct. 30 | Football

Because of a potential tie-breaking situation for other teams, the Kingston Buccaneers will play their last game of the year on a Thursday, instead of Friday.

KINGSTON — Because of a potential tie-breaking situation for other teams, the Kingston Buccaneers will play their last game of the year on a Thursday, instead of Friday.

The Bucs (1-4, 1-7) host Port Angeles at 7 p.m., Oct. 30. They were originally scheduled to play Oct. 31.

The reason for the change is because Port Angeles may have to play a tie-breaking game Nov. 4. In order to give students necessary recovery time between games, the game against the Bucs is being played a day earlier.

“This is standard practice to give kids proper recovery time between games in the event of having [Port Angeles] turn around and play on [Oct. 30],” Kingston High School Athletic Secretary Melissa Olson wrote in an email.

The Port Angeles Roughriders (2-3, 4-4) and Sequim Wolves (2-3, 4-4) could end up in a three-way tie with the North Mason Bulldogs (3-3, 4-4). The Bulldogs played their final conference game of the regular season Oct. 24. The three teams are vying for two District Playoff berths.

The Olympic Trojans (5-0, 6-2) and North Kitsap Vikings (5-0, 8-0) have secured the top to berths in the Playoffs. The teams play at 7 p.m., Oct. 31 at North Kitsap Stadium to determine the league champion.
