Bainbridge dominates in final home meet

The Bainbridge boys swim team trounced Klahowya 134-9 in the final home meet of the season.

Spartan seniors started and ended the meet with first-place finishes. Jason Nordgren, Thomas Witty, Curtis Stewart and Finn Wenker placed first in the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.

The squad finished with a time of 1 minute, 41.60 seconds in the 200 relay, half of a second off a state-qualifying time, and 4:03.90 in the 400 frees relay.

Bainbridge swept eight of the 12 events, including the three relay events.

RJ Rossart took first in the 200 free in 2:04.40, while Winston Block took second. Mathias Bang-Knudsen took first in the 200 individual medley with 2:11.92, while Eddie Nakhuda took second and Ryan Rich third.

In a large pool of competitors, Rylan Hopp captured first in the 100 free in 55.56. Zach Shield captured second and Block third.

Aidan Cole, Carter Cox and Robbie Nakhuda were the only swimmers in the 500 free, and they finished in that order.

Block, Collin Hamilton, Ian Longridge and Milo Merrit swept their teammates in the 200 free relay with a 1:45.65, 15 seconds quicker than second place.

The final event Bainbridge swept was the 100 backstroke. Jason Geddes finished first with 1:05.37 while Jonas Michael was second.

Klahowya earned its first three points when Quinn Rodgers and Swayer Hermosura finished fourth and fifth in the 50 free.

Nakhuda won the 50 free with a 22.96 clocking, one-second shy of a state-qualifying time.

Rodgers finished fourth in the 100 butterfly. Lake Robinson captured Kalhowya’s sixth point with a fifth-place finish in that event.

Robinson and Hermosura finished fourth and fifth in the 100 breaststroke, capturing their final three team points.

Eddie Nakhuda won the event with a 1:08.67 for the Spartans.
