On Friday, Oct. 18, the Kitsap County Auditors office will be mailing out ballots for the Nov. 5 election to all registered voters in Kitsap County.
The North Kitsap School Board made the right decision when it voted 3-2 on Sept. 26 to not build a press box at Buccaneer Field. Some boosters feel the board has reneged on a promise to build the press box – it would primarily be an announcer’s booth, though there would have been room for coaches and reporters too. The KHS Athletic Boosters raised $30,000 for the booth. But with instability in the district’s finances and enrollment, the timing just isn’t right.
We hope this winter is the season that we look back upon, thankful there were no fatal crashes. The weather is changing. The roads are slicker. It’s darker earlier. Be safe on the roads.
The Kitsap County Commission made the right decision last month to institute a 0.1 percent sales tax to help fund mental health programs in the county. The tax will become effective Jan. 1. It is expected to raise more than $3 million a year to make mental health services more available.
