Kingston Kiwanis president passes the torch

Well, here I sit writing my last article for Kiwanis Korner. My year as president went fast and it’s time for me to pass the torch to Dale Rude. For the last year, Dale has been my vice president and the wind beneath my wings that kept me going and looking good. Thank you, Dale! Also, thank you to Debbie Anderson for asking me to take the position. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with such a great group of people.

Moving on, the berry sales were a great success. We raised over $2,500 to give back to the community.

Mustang, mustang, mustang! Our other Mustang raffle fundraiser is also coming to a close and we will be pulling the winning ticket around 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 30 at the Concert on the Cove at Mike Wallace Park. Don’t miss out. There is still time to get your ticket and win that beautiful cranberry-red 1965 Mustang 289 automatic. Where else can you win a vintage car for $10? By the way, we’re hoping to have another Mustang donated to us to raffle next year. If you have one or know of someone who might donate a Mustang, get in touch with me.

Before I go, I need to thank my fellow Kiwanis members for supporting me, and my wife, Eileen, for putting up with me in the last year.

If you’d like to come to a meeting and see the fun we have, feel free to contact Dale at (360) 297-7500 or me at (360) 297-2661 for more information.

Again, thank you all. It’s been a great year and we live in the greatest place on earth! Elvis has left the building!

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Thanks, Scott, for all your energized contributions to the Kingston Community News. Rock on!)
