Violet L. Johnsen, 93

Suquamish resident Violet Laure Johnsen died Aug. 31, 2005 in Bremerton. She was 93.

Johnsen was born to Walter and Anna Skinner on Athens, Ohio on May 30, 1912.

She lived on Bainbridge Island for 30 years and in Suquamish for the past eight years.

Johnsen was a member of garden clubs and the Children’s Hospital Guild. She enjoyed gardening and worked with her flowers for hours at a time. She was also an avid photographer. Johnsen was also devoted to her family and had a special relationship with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband John L. Johnsen of Suquamish; sons Walter Johnsen of Bainbridge Island and John Johnsen of Lacy; daughter Charlotte Middlesworth of Richmond, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation and funeral was held Sept. 6 at Seabold Methodist Church on Bainbridge Island. Interment will take place at Seabold Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kass & Cook Family Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.
