Teresa Lynn Phelps of Poulsbo died Nov. 11 at Harrison Medical Center. She was 59.

Phelps was born Sept. 21, 1950, to Harry and Myra Tate in Bremerton. She graduated from Central Kitsap High in 1968 and graduated magna cum laude from Western Washington University in 2002 with a bachelor’s in social services.

She married Stephen Phelps on May 16, 1969, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard.

She worked for many places, including the Department of Social and Health Services ICW Unit, CRC for the state of Washington, for Keyport as the lead secretary for many years and for Kingston Middle School.

Phelps was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband, Stephen of Poulsbo; sons: Shawn of Bremerton and Jason (Angela) of Los Angeles; daughter Melissa Brown of Gig Harbor; brother Michael Tate of Belfair; sister Tina Cayson (Pat) of Tacoma; and grandchildren Todd, Tate and Ashley.
