Sharon J. Smith of Poulsbo died Feb. 5 after a long battle with cancer. She was 75.

Smith was born to Gilbert C. and Opal A. Berge in Longview on Oct. 18, 1932.

She married Edward L. Smith on Aug. 31, 1951 in Longview.

Smith graduated from R.A. Long High School and later worked as an executive secretary in the aircraft and missile industry. She was also a homemaker and a scholar of U.S. history, an active volunteer worker for the handicapped and enjoyed travel.

Smith is survived by her husband, Edward of Poulsbo; sons, Clark of Tacoma, and Scott of Los Angeles; sister, Shirley Wheeler of Longview; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Charmis Meyers.
