Ruth E. Hunter, 87

Poulsbo resident Ruth Elizabeth Hunter died March 31, 2006 in Bremerton. She was 87.

She was born to Brown and Bernice Fielder in Burt, Iowa on Oct. 8, 1918.

She married Cubert Ernst Hunter on July 18, 1945 in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Hunter graduated from high school and attended community college, where she took business classes. After moving to California with her family, she worked for the state as an adjudicator for unemployment benefits. She moved from California to Poulsbo in June 2004 to live with her son and his family.

She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, laughing and eating dessert (mainly chocolate).

Hunter is survived by her son Ron Hunter and daughter-in-law Kathleen LaVoy of Poulsbo; Nancy Hunter (Doug Whitney) of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cubert and brother Roland.

Services will be held May 6 at her previous church in Hanford, Calif. A smaller memorial service will be held at her son’s home on May 27.
