Ronald W. Carpenter, 94

Ronald W. Carpenter of Poulsbo died April 2. He was 94.

Carpenter was born Jan. 2, 1914, in Hartwick, Iowa, to Edward and Edith Carpenter. He married Jobyna Carlson on Aug. 14, 1983, in Suquamish.

Carpenter served in the U.S. Coast Guard and worked as an ammunition specialist for Concord Naval Weapon Station in Napa, Calif. He retired from Bangor as waterfront supervisor and was responsible for all cargo and weapons going in and out of the Naval Base. He was also a member of the Masons, 448 Diablo Valley in California, for 50 years, Sons of Norway, Stardusters, and a bowling league. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, RVing with the North Kitsap Good Sam, and was an excellent carpenter, woodworker and boxer in his younger years.

Carpenter is preceded in death by his sister, Florence Marean; and brothers, Leo, Larry and Ralph. He is survived by his wife, Jobyna of Poulsbo; sons, Michael Carpenter (Pamela) of Llano, Calif., David Carpenter (Janie) of Conconully; a daughter, Wendy Peet (Richard) of Redding, Calif.; sisters, Dorothy Wurz of Napa, Calif., Lois Winthrop of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and two stepsons and their families. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 7 at Poulsbo Mortuary. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
