Mary B. Eckley, 84

Suquamish resident Mary B. Eckley died July 30, 2005 in Poulsbo. She was 84.

She was born to Ira and Emma Jean Besst Steele in Lake Andes, S.D. on Aug. 23, 1920.

She married Richard Walter Eckley on Sept. 23, 1938 in Tekamah, Neb.

She was a homemaker. After her children were grown, she worked in a retirement facility as activities director. She enjoyed birds, babies and flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and sitting quietly in her rocking chair working on crossword puzzles or reading.

She is survived by her sons Richard C. Eckley, Thomas Eckley, John Eckley and James Eckley; daughters Mary E. Steele and Martha Susan Severson; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Eckley was preceded in death by her husband Richard Eckley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Nebraska. Eckley will be buried in the Tekamah Cemetery in Nebraska.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Acme Cremation Services.
