Mae M. Stewart Hamilton, 86

Mae M. Stewart Hamilton of Poulsbo died June 28, 2007 at her home. She was 86.

Hamilton was born to Howard and Ruth (Snyder) Stewart in Anacortes on Aug. 23, 1920.

She married Don Hamilton in 1960 in Port Townsend.

Hamilton graduated from high school in Anacortes in 1937.

She worked as an assistant manager at the Bainbridge Island Liquor Store for 10 years.

Hamilton was a member of the VFW on Central Valley Road and the Eagles in Poulsbo. She also contributed dolls and blankets to the Poulsbo Bellringer and Union Gospel Mission in Seattle, and was given the Unsung Hero Award in 1993.

Hamilton is survived by sons Oen Ramstad and Timothy Ramstad; daughters Jerrianne West, Gretchen Kawalkowski and Heather Ledford; four sisters; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband Don; her brothers Craig, Ron and Howard; and her sisters Jean and Mary Jane.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and services will be held at 1 p.m. July 5 at The Stone Chapel.
