Lorraine M. Ray, 78

Poulsbo resident Lorraine M. Ray died Nov. 16, 2005 in Poulsbo. She was 78.

She was born to Leonard and Alice (Oen) Haskin in Poulsbo on June 4, 1927.

Ray married Ralph Nesby in 1946 and then Jim Ray in 1969.

She and her husband owned and operated Ralph’s Red Apple in Poulsbo and retired in 1984.

Ray was a member of First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo and was also a member of the Poulsbo Chapter #235 O.E.S. She was also active in the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce and was honored as “Man of the Year” in 1973.

She and her husband Jim enjoyed fishing and camping in their camper, digging clams, raising oysters and catching crab and shrimp.

Ray is survived by her husband Jim of Poulsbo; son Mark (Patty) Nesby of Bremerton and stepson Jim (Sue) Ray Jr. of Seattle; stepdaughters Barbara (Larry) Butterton of Bremerton, Teresa (Ed) Wren of Seattle and Kathy Ray of Port Angeles; brother Glen (Isabelle) Haskin; and eight grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo. A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 21 at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. There will be a private interment at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be sent to First Lutheran Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.
