Lawrence Grout, 71

Longtime Kingston resident Lawrence David Grout died Oct. 20, 2006 in Seattle. He was 71.

Grout was born on June 28, 1935 in Seattle.

He married Barbara Grout.

Grout joined the Seattle Police Department in 1961 and retired as a sergeant in 1986.

After graduating from Lincoln High School, Grout joined the Navy and served in both the Naval Reserve and U.S. Army Reserves. He earned several awards for his service during Desert Storm and retired from the Army as a chief warrant officer 5.

Grout is survived by his wife Barbara Grout; son Kevin (Dawn) Grout; daughters Karin (Scott) Smith, Kathi (Greg) Rice and Tracy (Mike) Thwing; brothers Jimmy Grout and Johnny Grout; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Lake City Elks lodge in Seattle.
