Kevin Shutes

Kevin Shutes of Poulsbo died July 31 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. He was 53.

He was born in Bremerton on Dec. 26,1955. Shutes was employed at several local hospitals as a CNA, most recently at Messenger House, until complications from Lupus forced him to retire.

He enjoyed music (including playing the piano when he was young), clam-digging, crossword puzzles and the Christmas holiday season with family. He loved his dog Ferdie and was an awesome cook.

He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1975.

He is survived by his mother, Diane Buch of Poulsbo; brother Scott Shutes (Molly) of Seattle; Suzanne Kettel (Craig) of Bremerton, stepsister Mark K. Welch of Bremerton and Linda Luckerath of Poulsbo and niece and nephew Heather and Billy Kettel of Bremerton and niece Sarah Beth Shutes of Seattle.

At Shutes’ request there will be no service.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation.

His remains will be scattered on the Hood Canal at a later date.
