Kenneth Viles

Kenneth “Dan” Viles of Poulsbo died on July 29, 2003. He was 47.

Viles was born to Kenneth and Myrna (Roberts) Viles on Aug. 3, 1955 in Portland, Ore.

Viles married Virginia Aguilar in Olongapo, Philippines on May 15, 1976.

He graduated from Hudson Bay High School in 1973 in Vancouver and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974. Viles served until 1994 and retired as Chief Petty Officer. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal with one star.

He was maintenance supervisor for the Bainbridge Asset Management Corporation for two years and served various other businesses as a maintenance worker and handy man.

Viles enjoyed fishing, taking his grandchildren to the movies, having heart-to-heart conversations with his children and woodworking.

Viles is survived by his wife Virginia Viles of Poulsbo; parents Kenneth and Myrna (Roberts) Viles of LaCenter; son Jesse (Gretchen) Viles of Poulsbo; daughters Mary Ann Aguilar of Jersey City, N.J., Jennifer Viles of Poulsbo and Susan (Brandon) DeSantos of Bremerton; brother Steven (Stacy) Viles of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters Beverly (Gregg) Peck of Hazel Dell and Joan (Jon) Artz of West Richland; and two grandchildren.

A committal service was held on Aug. 4 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.

Services were under the direction of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center of Port Orchard.
