Kathryn Denson, 84

Kathryn Denson of Hansville died July 7 at Harrison Medical Center. She was 84.

Denson was born in Whitesboro, Texas, to Milliard and Myrtle Varley.

She graduated from Whitesboro High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. During World War II she worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. She married L.V. (Red) Denson, also from Whitesboro, on March 4, 1946.

They have a son, David, of Tubac, Ariz., and daughter, Linda (Dan) Coburn, of Gresham, Ore. There are five grandchildren and twin great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many close friends and neighbors.

Denson was a homemaker who ran a tight ship while her husband was deployed during his Naval service.

One of Kathryn’s favorite memories was a 12-month retirement trip around the United States and Canada and then helping to build their dream retirement home overlooking the Hood Canal.

Upon becoming a full-time resident of Hansville, Denson was an integral part of the Hansville Community Center’s Neighbors’ Program.

A memorial service and reception is planned for today, at the Hansville Community Center at Buck Lake Park, 6778 Buck Lake Park Road, Hansville, at 11 a.m.
