Karin Halverson died June 24 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. She was 80.
She was born on April 27, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Fanny Westerlund and moved with her family from Vermont to Poulsbo in 1944. She married Herbert R. Moore on June 1, 1946 and had two children, Alan and Linda.
She married Keith Halverson on Nov. 28, 1975.
During her teenage years, Halverson worked at several Poulsbo businesses, including The Idle Hour, the Poulsbo Fountain and the old Olympic Inn.
Halverson loved all outdoor activities, including fishing, camping and gardening. In her later years she had an unofficial day care watching her grandchildren, which grew to watching many children of friends and family.
Halverson was preceded in death by her parents; brother John; and her first husband. She is survived by her husband, Keith; son Alan of Poulsbo; daughter Linda Leibold of Poulsbo; and two stepsons: Joe and Donnie Halverson of Port Townsend; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Halverson’s life will be at 2 p.m. July 12 at First Lutheran church in Poulsbo.
