Joseph Piecuch

Joseph Piecuch died April 8 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle.

Piecuch was born in 1930 and attended high school and college in Rochester, NY. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and was a fighter pilot for 20 years. He often remarked he should have paid the Air Force because he enjoyed flying and traveling so much.

Piecuch and his family built a home in Suquamish in 1970.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Betty Ann Lonergan, who died in 1978.

He married Janene Bromley in 1980, and the two have been active in the Poulsbo Yacht Club since. Piecuch also enjoyed sailboating, fishing, woodworking, gardening and cooking. He loved a good joke, loved being intrepid and was always proud to be an American.

Piecuch is survived by his wife, Janene; six children: Joseph D., Charles R., Timothy M., Justin J., Joseph B. and Elizabeth C. He is also survived by his brother, James, of Rochester, N.Y., 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial will be 1 p.m. April 28 at the Poulsbo Yacht Club.
