January 25, 1936 – November 25, 2015
A wonderful husband and father, a man loved by his family and friends was taken suddenly on Nov. 25, 2015. John F. Snouwaert was born Jan. 25, 1936 to Jacob and Erma Snouwaert in Escanaba, Michigan. He grew up in the small town of Gladstone Michigan and attended Gladstone High School, graduating in 1954. After high school he served two years in the US Army which brought him to Poulsbo, where he was stationed at the former Nike base. He married his wife Jeanne Peterson in 1969. He worked for the Kitsap County Road Department for 25 years retiring, in 1995. He was known to his family and friends as Mr. Fixit because of his ability to fix anything and willingness to help others. John enjoyed camping and traveling with friends.
Throughout his life he never lost his great sense of humor with perfectly-timed quips and zingers. John is survived by his wife Jeanne, daughter Elaine, son Terry, sister Nancy Mueller (of Wisconsin) and several nieces and nephews. John requested no services, however, his family would be honored by donations made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
