Jean Schomberg

November 24, 1926 - January 21, 2017

Jean Schomberg, of Poulsbo, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 21, 2017. She was born in Tacoma on November 24, 1926 to Dora and Earl Thaden. Her family later moved to Sacramento where she met and married Donald Roy Schomberg.

Don and Jean moved to Southern California, then to Portland, and finally to the Kitsap Peninsula. Along the way, they had 6 children; Susan, Timothy, David, Rebecca, Deborah, and Ruthy, and were also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don and Jean were married for 55 years. Don died in 2001.

After Don and Jean’s children were grown, Jean earned a degree in Early Childhood Development at Portland State University. As a daycare director she enjoyed working with her staff to advance the well-being of the children and their parents.

Jean enjoyed painting and has original art on permanent display in Portland and other cities in the Northwest. She also designed the company logo and created many designs for her daughter and son-in-law’s company.

Jean was best known for her unwavering faith in God, her generous spirit, for her quick wit, her kindness to strangers, and for the deep love and compassion she had for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
